Qld: Info campaign ahead of council poll
The Electoral Commission of Queensland has begun an information campaign to explain
the voting process for next month's local government elections.
The March 15 poll will mark the first time the electoral commission will conduct elections
for all councils across the state.
Previously only Brisbane City Council elections were run by the independent commission.
Electoral commissioner DAVID KERSLAKE says the commission's begun the massive task
of writing to each Queensland voter.
About two thousand candidates are expected to stand for office in Queensland's 73 councils.
