Japan eyes missile shield for North Korea rocket

Japan's defense minister says he will consider mobilizing a missile shield to protect against a North Korean rocket launch.

Defense Minister Yasukazu Hamada says he could move PAC-3 missiles from Tokyo to northern Japan to protect the area against fragments that could fall there if North Korea fires a rocket over the country but the launch fails.

North Korea has announced it intends to launch a satellite into orbit sometime between April 4 and 8.

Japan has warned it will do whatever it can to protect its citizens in the event of a North Korean rocket launch.
